Nancy Agati
Nancy Agati is a Philadelphia artist whose multidisciplinary work includes works on paper, sculpture, site-specific installation, and public art. Water has been a recurring subject of Agati’s work, from the beauty and patterns of flow to the power and potential destruction due to climate change. Such projects offer mitigation strategies for climate-related water management issues and seek to foster reverence and stewardship for the environment.
Agati has had several opportunities to create public art projects and site-specific installations about water and the environment. Notably, “WaterTable” built for the New Jersey Coastal Climate Resilience Project in Atlantic City, “Basins and Borders” an Ecotopian Tool for Penn Program for Environmental Humanities, “Evident Cycle” for the FLOW exhibit at The Independence Seaport Museum, Philadelphia, and most recently “Aqua Terrace” at the DaVinci Art Alliance, Philadelphia. This October, Nancy will present her work at the statewide Watershed Conference sponsored by POWR (Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds and Rivers) and the PA Environmental Council. The Leeway Foundation WOO Grant will help cover travel expenses, printing of presentation materials, and artist fees to develop the art presentation.

Overview
Nancy Agati has been invited to give a presentation about her water-related public art projects at the Statewide Watershed Conference. Hosted by the Pennsylvania Organization of Watersheds and Rivers (POWR), the conference will take place October 29 - 30, 2023 in Altoona, PA. It will be hosted by the Pennsylvania Organization of Watersheds and Rivers (POWR). This opportunity connects to several of Nancy’s public works that address issues related to climate change – such as flooding, storm water runoff and management, excess of impermeable ground surfaces, and rising sea levels – all of which are aimed at educating the public about the benefits of permeable absorbent materials in low lying urban and coastal areas. It is the goal of these artworks to offer tools for efficient, clean water management for both residential property and commercial development. The WOO Grant will help with Nancy’s travel expenses, meals, and presentation creation to attend the Statewide Watershed Conference.
