Anne Hoffman-Freedman

Location
Fishtown

Anne Hoffman-Freedman (she/they) is a Philadelphia based audio producer, documentarian and social worker.

She has produced hundreds of public radio stories. Her work is tender, thorough, honest and celebratory. She is interested in personal events that become collective - transforming an experience from solitary to connected, helping listeners to feel less alone.

In 2018, Anne founded a youth radio program called Philly Audio Diaries to train young people in Philadelphia to tell their own stories. She likes to stay behind the scenes and help new producers discover what they want to create.

For Leeway, Anne is working on a collaborative radio show with PhillyCAM members about the healing power of ancestor ghosts.

Anne Hoffman-Freedman will host a 1-hour radio special about how ancestor ghosts can help people heal from trauma, and/or experience joy. The special will air on WPPM, PhillyCAM's radio station, and will include Anne's story and the stories of those Anne will mentor in storytelling through workshops, as well as interviews with scholars on the power of ancestor ghosts. Set to air the week before Halloween, this project seeks to raise awareness around PTSD for participants, listeners, and the mental health community at large.
