Prior to the election, therefore, we examine the state of environmental news to help guide us in digesting this news, and then give environmental positions of federal and state candidates to inform voting choices. Tune in to Planet Philadelphia environmental radio show 4-5:00 PM Friday10/2/20 to hear guests: Sharon Friedman is Professor and Director of the Science and Environmental Writing Program in the Department of Journalism and Communication at Lehigh University. She also directs Lehigh’s Environmental Studies Program and is the Associate Director of its Environmental Initiative. Her research focuses on risk communication issues and how scientific, environmental and health issues are communicated to the public. She is the co-author of Reporting on the Environment: A Handbook for Journalists.Sharon will be talking about the state of environmental journalism, what makes for good journalism in this area, and how to evaluate environmental media.â
Liz Robinson founded the Energy Coordinating Agency in Philadelphia and the Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance (a trade association for energy efficiency in PA and NJ). She also has helped the Energy Coop transition to renewables, and now is the Director of the Philadelphia Solar Energy Association. Liz has been our correspondent from Harrisburg (capital city of PA). She will be reporting on the environmental/climate platforms of our presidential candidates and of our state legislature.
