Leeway's Intern Kelcie Ulmer's BFA thesis show opens April 25

Leeway Foundation Communications Intern, Kelcie Ulmer's BFA thesis show, Myth of Myself, opens Friday, April 25 at Solmsson Court at the University of the Arts' Hamilton Hall (320 South Broad Street). Myth of Myself is a multimedia installation based on a fictional mythology created by the artist. Using digital photography, sculpture, and costuming, three portraits of mythical women are displayed as iconic religious portraits in a chapel- like space. Ulmer takes many motifs from the rich visual history of Catholicism (particularly the Byzantine halo) and combines them with a unique vocabulary of symbols inspired by nature to forge a personal creation story.
